Use the historic centre as a compact walking base: Piazza della Repubblica, the Cathedral square and Piazza della Signoria are close together, while Santa Croce is a separate eastern stop. Ponte Vecchio and Ponte Santa Trinita connect to Oltrarno. The Rose Garden, Piazzale Michelangelo and San Miniato sit uphill and work best as a separate leg; check church rules, seasonal garden hours and the climb before setting out.
