What to expect

Piazza del Duomo is an outdoor landmark cluster: the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto's Campanile and the Baptistery share a compact central setting. Viewing the buildings from the square is free. The Cathedral interior is also free to enter without a ticket Monday to Saturday, 10:15–15:45; the Dome, bell tower, Baptistery, museum and other monuments have separate ticket rules.

The piazza and exterior views are free. The Cathedral interior has free entry at its published visiting hours; other Duomo monuments require tickets, and worship can change church access.

Visitor notes

For the Cathedral interior, the Opera del Duomo lists Monday–Saturday 10:15–15:45 and closure to visitors on Sundays and during religious celebrations. Dress suitable for a place of worship is required inside; the official operator identifies a right-side entrance for visitors with mobility impairments. These rules do not apply to viewing the exterior from the square.
