Ponte Vecchio
Cross Florence's 1345 bridge, lined with shops above the Arno.
What to expect
Ponte Vecchio stands on the site of an ancient river crossing. The current bridge dates to 1345 and is built around three arches with masonry shops along both sides; goldsmiths have occupied those premises since 1593. At the centre, look for the Benvenuto Cellini monument and the remains of a sundial, then take in the Arno and nearby bridges from the parapet openings.
