Upper Barrakka Gardens
Walk under the stone loggia and look down over Grand Harbour from Valletta’s upper bastion garden.
What to expect
Upper Barrakka sits high on Valletta’s fortifications above Grand Harbour, with a line of stone arches, planted paths and monuments overlooking the Three Cities. Ambjent Malta says the garden began as a private Knights of St John garden in 1661 and opened to the public in 1800. This is a short garden visit; the ticketed Saluting Battery is on the lower bastion and is a separate experience.
