Syntagma Square and guard change

Watch the Evzones' ceremonial guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, then cross into the National Garden nearby.

What to expect

Set out as the grand forecourt to the Hellenic Parliament, Syntagma Square takes its name from the constitution demanded in the 1843 uprising. At the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Evzones change guard every hour; the full Presidential Guard ceremony takes place on Sundays at 11:00.
