Seven Magic Mountains

A vivid land-art installation stands in the Mojave, well outside the Strip.

What to expect

Seven towers of stacked boulders rise more than 30 feet above the Ivanpah Valley desert. The artwork is a site-specific project by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone, produced with the Nevada Museum of Art and Art Production Fund; the mountain backdrop and open landscape are part of the experience.

Public viewing has no admission fee and reservations are not required. Transport and any tour are separate; the installation itself has no onsite services.

Visitor notes

The project’s visitor page currently says the site is open with no reservation needed and recommends visiting from sunrise to sunset. It is roughly 10 miles south of the Las Vegas Boulevard and St. Rose Parkway junction; there is no public transit, so arrange a car or a tour. Park in the onsite lot, not along the road. The path is unpaved, with no restrooms, shade or other services; bring water and sun protection, check desert weather and do not climb or touch the artwork. The long-term end date is not stated on the current visitor page, so recheck before making a special trip.
