What to expect
Lower Barrakka Gardens occupy the eastern bastion above the mouth of Grand Harbour. The garden’s 19th-century layout centres on a neoclassical monument to Sir Alexander Ball and includes memorial plaques noted by the public-garden operator. It is a quieter end of the peninsula than the Upper Barrakka terrace, but the status of the Siege Bell Memorial and garden access needs checking while restoration work is ongoing.
