Follow narrow stone lanes between the whitewashed houses below the Acropolis.

What to expect

Workmen from the island of Anafi built this small whitewashed quarter beneath the Acropolis, and its Cycladic-style houses still line very narrow lanes. The Official Athens Guide describes paths narrowing toward Theorias and identifies two churches that loosely mark the quarter's edges; take time to look around without treating private homes as visitor attractions.
