Zattere waterfront promenade

Follow the long canal-side route for open water views; allow extra time for the bridges and high-water detours.

What to expect

The Zattere is a long south-facing waterfront walk in Dorsoduro, not a single viewpoint. The official city itinerary connects it with Campo Santa Margherita and continues along the Fondamenta delle Zattere toward Punta della Dogana, making those stops a practical same-side route. The canal stays in view for much of the walk, but cafés and galleries are separate paid visits. Sun and wind are exposed along the quay, and high water can change the pedestrian route.
