Vondelpark
Wander the paths and ponds of Amsterdam’s best-known park, with playgrounds and a summer open-air theatre.
What to expect
Amsterdam opened Vondelpark in 1865; it is now a protected national monument with wide walking and running paths, lawns, playgrounds and cafés. The municipality’s park page lists a seasonal paddling pool for children from May to September and a map of facilities. In summer, the open-air theatre hosts free performances. This is a large working city park, so allow time for a loop rather than treating it as a single viewpoint.
