A free historic garden walk beside the Caracciolo waterfront.

What to expect

Villa Comunale stretches for more than a kilometre between Piazza Vittoria and Piazza della Repubblica, with long avenues, planted areas, monuments and small historic structures. It makes a quieter extension to a Lungomare walk. The municipal visitor guide lists play areas and seating; the nearby Anton Dohrn aquarium and commercial kiosks are separate stops.

The public garden is free to enter. The aquarium, food and drink, events and any separately operated facilities may charge.

Visitor notes

The City of Naples says the garden reopened on 22 September 2026 after restoration work; its notice expects the remaining works to finish by the end of 2026, so some paths or areas may still be affected. The municipal rules list 07:00–24:00 from 1 May to 31 October and 07:00–22:00 from 1 November to 30 April, with earlier closing on 1 January and 24, 25 and 31 December. Entry is prohibited during thunderstorms or strong winds. Check the latest city notice at the entrance.
