Temple of Debod
A 2nd-century BC Egyptian temple, rebuilt beside Plaza de España; the gardens are open and the interior is free by reservation.
What to expect
The Egyptian government gave the Temple of Debod to Spain after the Aswan Dam threatened its original site. It was dismantled, moved to Madrid and rebuilt stone by stone in Cuartel de la Montaña Park beside Plaza de España. Walk the free grounds for the temple exterior and city views; the ancient interior is a separate timed visit.
