Tempelhofer Feld

A former airport turned into an enormous public park, with old runways under open sky.

What to expect

The former airport is now a 300-hectare public field where people walk, cycle and skate along the runways. With no motor traffic and entrances on Tempelhofer Damm, Columbiadamm and Oderstraße, it suits a long, open-air outing; the runways offer little shade on hot days.

Entry and costs

There is no entry charge. Barbecues are restricted to marked areas, and organized events or terminal activities may have separate charges.

Visitor notes

Gate hours change by month: January and December 07:30–17:00; February and November 07:00–18:00; March 06:00–19:00; April and September 06:00–20:30; May and August 06:00–21:30; June and July 06:00–22:30; October 07:00–19:00. Gates close at these times, but you can leave through revolving gates at the main entrances. Cycling and skating are allowed on paved surfaces.
