What to expect

Sumiyoshi Taisha is the head shrine of the Sumiyoshi tradition, with four main sanctuaries and the distinctive red Sorihashi Bridge at its western approach. The grounds are an active place of worship, not a museum; visitors can walk the precinct for free but should avoid eating, drinking or smoking there and follow signs during ceremonies.
