What to expect

Strandvägen runs east from Nybroplan along Östermalm toward Djurgården. Stockholm's city archive describes a boulevard with a planted pedestrian avenue between parallel streets, lined by large late-19th-century stone buildings. The route is both a waterfront walk and a working transport corridor, so trams, cycle movement and crossings share the area; stay on pedestrian paths as you head toward the bridge.
