What to expect

Shinsekai is a southern Osaka entertainment district shaped around Tsūtenkaku Tower, with restaurants, lantern signs and the narrow Janjan Yokocho lane. The district is a free public walk; going up the tower is a separate paid visit. Osaka’s tourism guide describes Janjan Yokocho as about 130 metres long, with roughly 50 small shops and eateries.

The public district and tower exterior are free; observation decks, food and attractions charge separately.

Visitor notes

The tower’s general observation deck currently lists 09:00–21:45 hours, last entry 21:15, and ¥1,500 standard admission; tower hours and timed entry can change, so check the operator before making it the focus of your visit. District shops set their own hours, and weekend lanes can be crowded.
