Shinsaibashi-suji Shopping Street

A free, rain-sheltered 600-metre walk through one of Osaka’s best-known shopping streets.

What to expect

Shinsaibashi-suji is a covered shopping arcade about 600 metres long, running through eight blocks in central Minami. It is a public walk even if you do not shop, and the roof makes it a useful rainy-day link between Shinsaibashi Station and Dotonbori. Japan’s national tourism guide estimates 30 minutes to several hours, depending on how many shops you visit.

The arcade has no single venue schedule: the shopping street association directs visitors to individual store pages for opening hours. Purchases, food and nearby attractions cost extra. The covered route can be busy, so keep moving in crowded stretches and follow local signs.
