Sforza Castle courtyards

Walk the free castle courtyards beneath the Filarete Tower and along the old fortress walls.

What to expect

Sforza Castle's monumental courtyards are open to the public without a museum ticket. The free outdoor visit takes in the brick walls, towers and the Courtyard of Arms beneath the Filarete Tower. The civic museums inside and the panoramic battlements are separate ticketed visits, with different schedules from the courtyards.

Courtyard access is free. Castle museums and the panoramic battlements are ticketed; museum admission is not needed for the outdoor courtyards.

Visitor notes

The City of Milan lists courtyard hours as 07:00–19:30 daily. The museums normally open Tuesday–Sunday, 10:00–17:30, and close Mondays; check the castle's own notices for holidays, events or changes before setting out.
