Santa Monica Pier and beach path

The public Pier is open daily 06:00–22:00; rides and businesses set separate hours while the bridge is replaced.

What to expect

The Santa Monica Pier reaches into the Pacific at the end of Colorado Avenue. The Pier itself is free to enter and the operator lists daily hours of 06:00–22:00; the nearby sandy beach and Marvin Braude bike trail offer a longer coastal walk or ride toward Venice. Restaurants, rides, games, rentals and the aquarium are separate paid activities.

Walking onto the Pier and public beach is free. Rides, games, aquarium admission, food, rentals and parking cost extra.

Visitor notes

The Pier operator says it remains open and accessible during the bridge replacement. The City’s project schedule currently runs through December 2027, so use posted pedestrian access and detour signs and check the project page before travelling. Shops and amusements keep their own hours; beach conditions, lifeguard coverage and path access are separate from Pier hours.
