Rialto Bridge and Grand Canal market
Pair a free bridge crossing with a market visit, but check the trading day and temporary stall layout before going.
What to expect
Rialto Bridge links the market quarter with the streets toward San Marco and is a useful crossing as well as a landmark. The produce and fish markets trade on different schedules: the City visitor guide lists produce Monday–Saturday and fish Tuesday–Saturday, with both closed Sunday. The market is being reorganized during a funded refurbishment; the City says vendors continue trading from temporary stalls while the work proceeds, so do not rely on an older stall-by-stall map. Arrive early for the working market atmosphere and leave room for deliveries and local shoppers.
