Promenade des Anglais

Walk or cycle nearly seven kilometres along the Baie des Anges, past palms, beaches and the blue chairs.

What to expect

The Promenade des Anglais follows almost seven kilometres of Nice's coast, lined with palms, beaches and the familiar blue chairs facing the Baie des Anges. Its first coastal walkway was promoted in 1824 by the British Reverend Lewis Way; the seafront now doubles as a daily route for local walkers, runners and cyclists and as a setting for city events.

The public promenade is free. Beach clubs, loungers, food and water activities are separate purchases. Major events such as Carnival can change the route or restrict sections, so check city notices before setting out.

Visitor notes

The tourist office lists the promenade as open every day throughout 2026 but gives no fixed daily opening or closing time. It is a busy shared seafront, so expect pedestrians, runners and cyclists, and follow event diversions. This listing does not report current water quality or swimming safety.
