Praça da Ribeira
Find the fountain and the bronze Ribeira Cube in a medieval riverside square below Porto's steep old lanes.
What to expect
Ribeira was recorded as a square by 1389 and became a busy trading and fish-market area beside the Douro. Its present layout reflects an 18th-century remodelling: look for the monumental fountain at the north side and the bronze Cube sculpture, which marks a 17th-century fountain found during archaeological work. The square is an easy place to pause on a walk between the historic centre, riverfront and Dom Luís I Bridge.
