What to expect

Plaza de Mayo is the civic heart of the historic centre, ringed by the Casa Rosada, the former town hall at the Cabildo and the Metropolitan Cathedral. The Pirámide de Mayo stands in the square, whose public gatherings and demonstrations are part of the country's political history. From here, Avenida de Mayo makes a natural walking route west toward the National Congress; the City lists the square as open daily.
