What to expect

Plaza Botero sits on Avenida Carabobo in Medellín’s historic centre, beside Parque Berrío and Museo de Antioquia. The city’s tourism guide counts 23 outdoor bronze sculptures donated by Botero in 2002. The public square is the free stop; museum galleries and exhibitions have separate admission. The official city announced phased surface-renewal work over about 1,300 square metres in May 2026. Its four-month estimate is not confirmation that work finished, so expect possible barriers and check the latest city notice before choosing a route.

The outdoor square is free to walk. Museo de Antioquia, indoor exhibitions, shops and guided activities are separate; check their current prices and hours.

Visitor notes

The official tourism guide says Parque Berrío is the closest Metro station and gives an approximately three-minute walk north. It recommends visiting in daylight. Medellín’s May 2026 works notice described partial, section-by-section repairs, and an October city update still listed Plaza Botero among spaces being preserved; neither source confirms completion. Follow posted diversions and do not assume every sculpture is unobstructed.
