Plaça Reial
A porticoed Gothic Quarter square with palms, the Three Graces fountain and Gaudí streetlamps; cafés are optional.
What to expect
Just off La Rambla, this 19th-century neoclassical square is lined with colonnaded galleries and palm trees. The centrepiece is the Fountain of the Three Graces; the distinctive iron lamps were designed by Antoni Gaudí and carry dragon and Mercury motifs. It is an easy stop on the same walk as nearby Gothic Quarter lanes, though the café terraces and nightlife are paid extras.
