What to expect

Piazza del Duomo is Milan's central public square, framed by the cathedral, the Galleria entrance, the Arengario and Palazzo Reale. Stay outside for a free look at the marble façade, porticoes and Victor Emmanuel II monument. Cathedral sightseeing and the rooftops are ticketed; prayer access uses a separate free entrance. The cathedral also publishes occasional free-admission dates for selected visits, each with its own booking rules.
