Parque Lage public grounds

See the garden and mansion courtyard beneath Corcovado; the palace interior is closed for restoration.

What to expect

At the foot of Corcovado, Parque Lage pairs tropical gardens and forest trails with a historic mansion and central courtyard. It is a public park and a worthwhile separate stop from the beaches. The mansion's palacete is currently closed for restoration, so plan around the gardens and grounds rather than expecting to visit its interior.

Entry to the public grounds is free. The mansion interior is currently closed for restoration; café purchases, scheduled activities and other services are separate.

Visitor notes

The official Escola de Artes Visuais page lists park visiting hours as 08:00–18:00 daily. It says the palace interior is temporarily closed for restoration and that the site is not fully accessible for people with reduced mobility: most of the area has steep trails, stairs and uneven ground, while the garden and palace area are accessible. Check the operator's notice before travelling.
