Parque de los Periodistas
Find the domed Templete del Libertador at this small triangular park beside the Eje Ambiental.
What to expect
Officially renamed Parque Gabriel García Márquez, the park was built between 1882 and 1886 and later became a meeting place for Bogotá’s journalists, poets and writers. Its centrepiece is the Templete del Libertador, a domed monument to Simón Bolívar inspired by Rome’s Temple of Vesta. The small triangular green space follows a curve in Avenida Jiménez, on the Eje Ambiental above the former San Francisco river course. It sits within walking distance of Plaza de Bolívar, the Gold Museum and Museo Botero.
