What to expect

Prague's main historic square grew from a marketplace recorded in the 10th century and took shape as a square in the 12th. The Old Town Hall and Astronomical Clock share the skyline with Týn Church, St Nicholas Church, Kinský Palace, the Stone Bell House and the Jan Hus monument.

Entry and costs

The public square and street-level clock viewing are free. The Old Town Hall visitor route, tower and historic interiors require a paid ticket; cafés, shops and seasonal markets are separate purchases.

Visitor notes

The twelve apostles appear on the clock every hour from 08:00 to 23:00. The square remains free to cross, but the clock draws a standing crowd at the hour. Old Town Hall tour hours and admission change separately; check the official listing before planning a tower visit.
