What to expect

Dubrovnik’s Old Port sits at the eastern end of the Old Town below St John’s Fortress. A short waterfront walk leads to Porporela, the breakwater and swimming spot the Tourist Board describes as a traditional meeting place for residents. The harbour is still used by boats, so use the marked pedestrian areas and keep boarding points clear. Walking along the public waterfront is free; the Aquarium, Maritime Museum, boat trips, food and drinks are separate paid visits. There is no fixed schedule for the public quay, and any temporary harbour or event restriction takes priority over this guide.
