What to expect

Casablanca's Old Medina is the historic quarter north of the centre, reached through gates including Bab Marrakech. The official city guide places it about a five-minute walk from Casa-Port station and the port, and recommends visiting during the day. Walk the lanes for their everyday market activity and older street pattern; this is the Old Medina, not the newer Habous quarter to the southeast.

Visitor notes

WeCasablanca recommends a daytime visit and distinguishes this northern Old Medina from the newer Habous quarter. Streets are active neighbourhood space: ask before photographing people, watch for vehicles in narrow lanes and leave room for residents and deliveries.
