What to expect

Nyhavn is a working harbour and public place, not a single attraction with a ticket gate. The canal-side walk is the main draw: look across to the 17th- and 18th-century house fronts, then continue toward the Inner Harbour Bridge if you want a longer waterfront route. The city identifies Nyhavn as a historic harbour environment with streets and house rows on both sides. Pavement cafés and canal-tour pontoons narrow the busy edges, so watch for bikes and leave boat access clear.
