What to expect

NGV International displays art from around the world in a building with a water-wall entrance, sculpture court and large collection galleries. General collection entry is free; temporary exhibitions are a separate, sometimes ticketed visit.

Entry and costs

Entry to the NGV collection is free and does not need a ticket. Some temporary exhibitions and programs are paid.

Visitor notes

The gallery’s standard hours are 10:00–17:00 daily; it opens at 13:00 on ANZAC Day and is closed on Christmas Day. Large bags and umbrellas must be cloaked; wheelchairs and several access aids can be borrowed free. Selected galleries have a temporary closure for exhibition installation through 13 December 2026, so check the current program.
