Navigli canal-side walk

Follow Milan's two southern canals from the old Darsena dock through Navigli.

What to expect

The Naviglio Grande and Naviglio Pavese meet at Darsena, Milan's restored former river port. From there, follow the canal-side streets to small landmarks such as Vicolo dei Lavandai, a former wash place beside the Naviglio Grande. The public walk is free; boat trips, cafés, market purchases and nightlife are not.

Metro M2 stops at Porta Genova and Romolo. YesMilano lists the Naviglio Grande antiques market on the last Sunday of each month; check the market calendar before planning around it. Evenings and weekends are busy, and narrow quays are shared with residents and business deliveries.
