Namba Yasaka Shrine

A free shrine visit built around one of Osaka’s most unusual stages.

What to expect

Namba Yasaka Shrine’s defining feature is its lion-head stage, which measures about 12 metres high, 11 metres wide and 10 metres deep. It is a small precinct rather than a long temple complex, so it works well as a short cultural stop near Namba’s larger shopping streets.

General shrine grounds access is free; donations and festival purchases are optional.

Visitor notes

The shrine gates are listed as open 06:00–17:00 year-round, with the shrine office open 09:00–16:50. Ceremonies can change visitor access. This is an active place of worship: keep the approach clear, follow posted etiquette and avoid interrupting prayers for photos.
