Makola is a working market district along Kojo Thompson Road, not a single ticketed attraction. The Ghana Tourism Authority lists it among Accra’s major visitor stops and describes goods and stalls in the surrounding city-centre market streets. A free outing here means walking public lanes and seeing the market at work; shopping, refreshments and optional guiding cost extra.

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly reported on 4 August 2026 that traders in the 31st December Market section were expected to relocate to Rawlings Park and the Community Centre before redevelopment. That update describes a plan, not confirmed completion; check the latest notice before visiting and do not assume every Makola stall is in the same place. Expect crowded, active streets and ask before photographing traders.
