Main Market Square
Start at the square laid out in 1257, between the Cloth Hall, St Mary's towers and the Town Hall Tower.
What to expect
Rynek Główny was laid out in 1257 at the meeting point of historic trade routes and remains the centre of Kraków's Old Town. The open square frames the Cloth Hall, St Mary's Basilica, the small Church of St Adalbert, the surviving Town Hall Tower and the Adam Mickiewicz monument. Give yourself time to walk the full perimeter: the façades and street exits show how the medieval grid meets the Royal Route.
