Lands End Coastal Trail

Follow the Coastal Trail above the Pacific to Sutro Baths ruins, cypress slopes and ocean overlooks.

What to expect

The trail runs along San Francisco's rocky northwestern edge. Short walks take in cypress and eucalyptus slopes, ocean overlooks and the ruins of Sutro Baths; longer loops cross uneven and exposed ground.

Entry and costs

The trail, overlooks and Sutro Baths exterior are free. Parking may be paid; food, souvenirs and special guided events are separate.

Visitor notes

The Parks Conservancy lists Lands End as open 24 hours, while the current National Park Service compendium includes it among areas closed from one hour after sunset until 06:00. Check posted signs before an early or night visit. Keep to the marked trail and back from cliffs. Wheelchair-accessible trail sections begin at the Merrie Way parking lot; that does not make the entire loop accessible.

Opening hours

Date-specific hours are not available for this place. Check the official page for the day you plan to visit.
