What to expect

Kungsträdgården is a central public garden between Norrmalm and the waterfront. In spring its cherry trees draw large crowds; through the year the city uses the park for festivals, sport and cultural events. In winter, a free public rink is set up when weather allows. It is an easy city-centre stop, but event layouts and seasonal activities change what is happening on the day.

The public garden is free to enter, and Visit Stockholm describes the winter rink as free when it is open. Cafés, equipment rental and separately ticketed events may cost extra.

Visit Stockholm says the park is open to everyone year-round and hosts more than 200 events. The rink is seasonal and weather-dependent, so check its current notice before bringing skates; cherry blossom usually draws heavy visitor numbers.
