Kenyatta Avenue civic walk
Follow Nairobi’s central boulevard past heritage buildings, the city’s distance reference point and civic monuments.
What to expect
Kenyatta Avenue is part of central Nairobi’s original government-building plan. The National Museums of Kenya identifies the Nairobi Gallery at the avenue and Uhuru Highway roundabout as the country’s historic “Point Zero”; the building dates to 1913 and its collections are ticketed separately. The County’s 2023–2027 development plan lists heritage monuments and a distance-reference block along the avenue. This self-guided outing stays on public pavements and treats the buildings as exterior views.
