Kangaroo Point Cliffs

Climb 107 steps between the river path and cliff-top lawns for a close view of Brisbane's skyline and Story Bridge.

What to expect

Kangaroo Point Cliffs has two levels of public parkland: the upper lawns on River Terrace and a lower riverside path. A steep 107-step staircase connects them; from either level, the Brisbane River, CBD and Story Bridge fill the view. The Cliffs Boardwalk continues beside the water towards the Captain Cook Bridge.

Entry and costs

The upper and lower public park areas are free to enter. Guided abseiling, kayak hire and some event facilities cost extra; much of the nearby street parking is metered.

Visitor notes

Council lists both levels as open 24 hours. The staircase connecting them is steep and has 107 steps; allow time for the climb back. Council monitors cliff stability and has further maintenance planned, so check current notices before visiting; guided climbing and kayak hire are paid activities.
