Johannesburg Botanical Garden
From Emmarentia Dam, follow paths past rose terraces, the herb and Shakespeare gardens, then return through the park lawns.
What to expect
The garden occupies the northern side of Emmarentia Dam. Its paths pass a rose garden, indigenous herb patch, terraced ponds and a Shakespeare garden; the surrounding lawns and arboretum make it easy to extend the visit toward the water. Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo describes the combined dam-and-garden area as more than 81 hectares, so choose a short garden circuit or leave time for a longer park walk.
