Jewish Ghetto of Cannaregio
Explore the public squares for free; book ahead if you want the museum or synagogue interiors.
What to expect
Established in 1516, the Venetian Ghetto preserves its original urban structure and a history shaped by Italian, Ashkenazi, Sephardic and Levantine Jewish communities. The public campos and lanes are a meaningful self-guided walk; the Jewish Museum adds exhibits and access to selected synagogue interiors through a paid visit. For 1–15 November 2026, the Museum publishes Sunday–Thursday hours of 10:00–17:30 and Friday hours of 09:00–15:00, with last entry earlier. That short schedule is date-specific, so check the Museum again after 15 November.
