What to expect

Gwanghwamun Square follows the old central avenue toward Gyeongbokgung's main gate. The statues of King Sejong and Admiral Yi Sun-sin anchor the route, with fountains, landscaped areas and a subway station along the way; the palace grounds are a separate, ticketed visit.

The public square is free and open year-round. The underground King Sejong exhibition, palace admission, food and special event activities are separate.
