Federal Hall National Memorial

A free National Park Service museum at the site of George Washington's first inauguration.

What to expect

The NPS exhibits cover George Washington's inauguration and the early federal government inside a former customs house on Wall Street. The compact indoor visit fits between the Financial District, the 9/11 Memorial and the waterfront; when the building is shut, the exterior and Washington statue remain visible from the street.

Entry and costs

Admission is free and no park pass is required. Ranger-led tours are free; self-guided visits do not require a reservation.

Visitor notes

The National Park Service currently lists Wednesday–Sunday 10:00–16:00 and closure on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. The rear entrance at 15 Pine Street has a ramp and an elevator serves the upper and lower levels. Check the NPS calendar before travelling because weather and operations can change access.
