Dom Luís I Bridge pedestrian decks
Cross two iron decks over the Douro: the lower links Ribeira with Gaia and the upper shares space with Metro trains.
What to expect
Designed by Théophile Seyrig and opened in 1886, the Dom Luís I Bridge spans the Douro on two stacked iron decks. The lower crossing connects Porto's Ribeira side with Vila Nova de Gaia; the upper deck links the cathedral area with Jardim do Morro and carries the Metro. From either side, the bridge gives a close look at the riverfront and the tightly packed buildings climbing both banks.
