Dean Village riverside walk
A free riverside walk through the stone mill village west of the city centre.
What to expect
Dean Village grew around the mills that used the Water of Leith: the Water of Leith Conservation Trust describes eight grain mills, a brewery, distillery and other works in the settlement. The river still passes the old damhead weir, while Well Court, commissioned in 1884, and nearby 19th-century buildings give the short village walk its distinctive stone-and-red-brick setting. It is a residential neighbourhood as well as a visitor stop.
