De Negen Straatjes
Walk the nine cross-streets and four canals in Amsterdam’s UNESCO-listed centre; shopping is optional.
What to expect
De 9 Straatjes is a compact shopping and walking district of three-by-three streets within the 17th-century canal ring. The neighbourhood association describes it between the Singel, Herengracht, Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht, with historic façades, small bridges and more than 250 shops, cafés, hotels and cultural venues. The lanes are part of the working city as well as a visitor area, so it is easy to combine a short walk with the surrounding canal belt.
