Chorro de Quevedo
Pause by the fountain and low colonial façades in a cultural square whose founding story is still debated.
What to expect
Chorro de Quevedo is a small plaza where a spring, a fountain and the surrounding colonial-era streets became part of Bogotá’s story of origin. The District Institute of Cultural Heritage cautions that the familiar claim that the city was founded here is not settled by a precise founding record; the city’s formal centre later took shape at Plaza de Bolívar. That uncertainty is part of the place’s history, alongside its long role as a meeting point for artists, musicians and residents.
