What to expect
Batu Caves is a Hindu pilgrimage site in Selangor, roughly 13 kilometres north of central Kuala Lumpur. The most visited route climbs 272 colourful steps past the golden Murugan statue to the main Temple Cave, a large limestone chamber with shrines. It is a religious complex, not just a viewpoint: visitors share the stairs with worshippers and should dress respectfully and follow posted instructions.
